Some Clues Concerning Popcorn

Filed under: Better Nutrition, Food, Miscellaneous @ 4:22 am

Visualize, for just a moment, how huge 1.000.000.000 pounds of unpopped kernels would be – and if you remember that that’s just one year’s American non-wholesale transactions alone, it will swiftly become evident exactly how many of your family enjoy their popcorn. As a result, over a million pounds are sold by the Popcorn Factory, pre-prepared as popcorn favors, popcorn balls, gourmet popcorn and tins of popcorn, every year. All their products are even certified kosher. Since 1979, this famous confectionery provider has furnished the United States with this tasty foodstuff in many wonderful containers. It takes the best, most flavorful fixings to make top quality popcorn, so the Factory sorts through domestically grown kernels to find the best available. With the purest corn oil, you can preserve that flavor while you pop the kernels, meaning you can add other flavorings easily. They then pack it up and send it out straight away – while it’s still fresh.

Their speciality tins will give you plenty, in 2.5 and 6 gallon sizes and packed full. So if you have a business event that wants snacks providing – or just want to get you and your family enough to last through the next few movie nights – you know where to come. Plain, obviously, and buttered – but they’re also on sale in banana cream pie or white chocolate raspberry. Should these be beyond your budget, or if you happen to be searching for some other package, you can order their appetizing snack foods in boxes. Designed to say “thank you”, to celebrate any special occasion, or to send a message, they’re tailor made to be gifts. If none of these will quite do, there’s always having the package customized with a relevant image, clever message, or just the recipient’s name. A great many customers have their particular flavor in mind and purchase a large order. Customers with wider tastes might prefer the samplers available. If you need more, while maintaining that variety of flavors, you can order a tower. While many towers are premade, you can also determine what each box will hold in a given stack. So there it is; so many flavors, such a variety of selections. And with their decoration, too, they’re wonderful presents. Surely you can think of tons of gift-giving ideas.

Every Kind of Popcorn Available

Filed under: Better Nutrition, Food, Miscellaneous @ 1:10 pm

Shops sold an astonishing one billion pounds of unpopped kernels and exported over two hundred and forty five million pounds in 2000, making it hardly a surprise that this confectionery is among the nation’s favorites. As a result, more than one million pounds come from the Popcorn Factory, pre-prepared as tins of popcorn, popcorn balls, popcorn favors and gourmet popcorn, yearly. And not only that but it’s also kosher, for anyone to indulge. Whatever your favorite flavor or presentation, they stand ready to provide you with all the popcorn you want. Just like they have for thirty years. To guarantee quality they begin by picking out the best, tastiest corn grown in America. After that, corn oil pops the kernels allowing the flavors to infuse right into the flesh. It’s packaged in visually pleasing wraps and sent out while it’s still fresh. Their tins make a great gift, in 2.5 and 6 gallon sizes and filled to the top. There truly is no better way to make sure your loved ones have snacks — or even a company party. Everyone expects the plain and buttered varieties, but some of the other flavors might be new to you. If the large tins are too much, or if you’re just considering some other deal, they also offer their appetizing treats in decorative tins and boxes. Designed to celebrate Hanukkah, a favorite sports team, or to send a message, they’re tailor made to be presents. The Factory offers other personalization options — a witty image, the recipient’s name, or a clever note. Some people are sure of a taste preference and choose to merely purchase a large tin of it. You might alternatively purchase an assortment or perhaps a sampler.

On the other hand, should you require a larger variety, there’s a solution — the tower. Swiftly constructed from a stack of containers fastened together, you can order premade menus or make your own choices. So there it is; so many flavors, so many possibilities. With their decoration, too, they make wonderful gifts. Surely you can think of plenty of gift-giving ideas.

Breast Enhancer Pills

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 7:28 am

Breast enhancement pills are one among the many non-surgical methods used for increasing the size of the breast. The efficacy of breast enhancement pills or any herbal products and supplements has not been scientifically substantiated or proven. Many manufacturers claim to have carried out independent research and studies to test the efficiency and effect of the pills. However, they have never been published in any medical reports or journals. The FDA doesn’t check these products for safety or efficiency because they are sold as herbal products.

Breast enhancement pills are made out of various natural ingredients, herb and plant derivatives. These are considered natural alternative methods to enhance the size of the breast. They mostly contain a non-hormonal plant estrogen called phytoestrogen. Various combinations of natural ingredients like fenugreek, don quai, saw palmetto, wild yam, and blessed thistle are used to manufacture breast enhancement pills. These pills, when taken for a period of 2-3 months, are supposed to increase the size of the breast. This is achieved by triggering the growth of the breast tissue. Breast enhancement pills stimulate breast tissue growth by producing a natural hormonal change that occurs during puberty.

Breast enhancement should be done after carefully evaluating the various ingredients and their potential side effects. A physician can be consulted in this regard. Furthermore, a good gynecologist will be able to tell women how exactly breast enhancement pills will affect her unique body and psyche. Certain ingredients in the pills may react adversely when taken in conjunction with other medication.

3 Ways to Increase HGH (Human Growth Hormone) Amounts in Your Body

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 6:53 am

HGH has been touted lately for it’s anti-aging possibilities. The amount of HGH in our body peaks in our early 20’s and goes down drastically from that point. Many people are rejuvenating themselves, and swearing by the results, by increasing HGH into their system

There are three delivery systems that add HGH into the system: homeopathic sublingual sprays, pharmaceutical injections, or pills that stimulate the release of HGH from the pituitary gland. With all three choices the goal is the same: to raise the measurable IGF-1 levels in the body in order to gain the youthful benefits. The short discussion below on all three therapies will help you discover which protocol is right for you.

Human Growth Hormone Pills:

When you buy a pill form of HGH you should know right up front that there is no HGH in the product. Read the ingredients. There are only stacked amino acids and other assorted stimulants. Even though the product name might be “HGH Releasor,” or “HGH Precursor,” there is no HGH in the product. It works by stimulating your Pituitary Gland into producing more HGH.

There’s good news and bad news. The good news is that it actually works. The bad news is that it only works for 4-8 weeks. Then your over-stimulated Pituitary Gland says, “no mas,” and stops being stimulated. It’s really a terrible tease because just when you start saying to yourself, “hey this is great,” everything shuts down. Just when you realize what you’ve been missing, you lose it again.

Additionally, I was scared away from this therapy by reports that taking stacked amino “growth hormone pills” can raise cortisol levels in your body, which is extremely unhealthy. So the choice then came down to putting the actual hormone into my body by way of shots or via oral sprays.

Human Growth Hormone Shots:

Almost all the HGH sites will tell you that the cost for shots ranges between $10,000 and $20,000 per year. It doesn’t. You can easily find it available for around $3,000 per year and even lower if you go through Mexican pharmaceuticals. Needles today are very safe and generally painless.

But sticking myself twice a day, twenty days per month, didn’t seem like a routine a healthy person should be doing, no matter how quick and easy it is. Call me squeamish if you like, I don’t care. This might suit some people, and if it does, you can consider going for it. Not me.

Those taking HGH injections should be aware that a few problems have been reported with “high” or “over” dosages, so anyone using this protocol would be wise to be clinically monitored on a regular basis by a physician.

HGH Oral Spray:

So the HGH spray option was the one I chose, especially considering the fact that I didn’t know if the product would deliver what retailers were claiming. It seemed to be the most benign, risk free, gentle, therapy that produced excellent results, and was reasonably priced between $500 and $1250 per year.

The amounts of herbal and nutritional contents listed on a product label can be most misleading. What’s important is not the nutritional content listed on the label, but rather how much of that nutrient is actually absorbed into the cells of the body. Sprays provide excellent absorption when micro-sized beads or droplets of a nutrient are taken into the body through the tissue lining of the mouth or nose. Blood capillaries are extremely close to the surface in these areas and readily absorb HGH into the bloodstream. The flow of absorbed nutrients from this area of the mouth is to the Carotid Artery, then to the brain, and then on to the heart within 22 to 30 seconds. Within minutes, it is totally dispersed throughout the body.

As far as which spray is the best, it’s my belief that if and when independent clinical trials are made of all the spray products they will all basically be close in effectiveness. They all contain the same amounts of Somatrophin (Human Growth Hormone). Some add a little bit of female this, some add a little bit of male that. I chose the one I thought was most homeopathically prepared because I knew more care would have been taken in its manufacturing and it would probably be more gentle on my system.

Learn as much as you can about Human Growth Hormone and make your own decision about which way you want to go. No matter what age you begin taking HGH you will enjoy the results.

The Truth About Vitamin Deficiencies

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 1:44 am

Here in America, and in many other countries, there is a wide selection of healthy nutritious foods available to the general public. The Food And Drug Administration (FDA) regularly states, as do many professionals in the nutrition sector, that Americans can get all the vitamins and minerals they need for good health from a diet comprised of these foods. They say that supplementation with vitamins is not needed for most people.

However, almost everyday we hear or read about someone whose health has suffered because of a “vitamin deficiency” of some sort or another! How can this be happening? Is the FDA lying to us? Is there something wrong that we don’t know about?

Here’s just a few points to consider.

Let’s take an average American, or citizen of England, Germany, France. Let’s take you.

What did YOU eat for breakfast yesterday? How about lunch and dinner? What snacks did YOU have? Did you smoke or drink alcohol? Are you pregnant, nursing, or overweight?

So, breakfast (if you ate any at all) was a bowl of cold cereal with milk or some toast with coffee, there was that candy bar halfway through the morning, then for lunch, you went to McDonald’s…you get the picture, right?

I’m sure that before fixing or selecting each meal, you took a look at the FDA’s food pyramid…what’s that? Oh, you’ve got it memorized and always select the proper number and size of portions throughout the day. Right! Well, maybe you at least counted calories and checked the nutritional labels… Oh, you…er…didn’t do that either, huh?

Do you see my point?

The nutritional elements we need ARE probably there in the foods available to us, but the choices we make, and the knowledge we have, are not the choices we should be making.

But who has the time, or the will-power, to lug around a copy of some book on nutrition, or memorize calorie charts, or check the menu against them even if we had them? I don’t, and I bet that you don’t either.

Maybe that’s why we see people with vitamin deficiencies!

How about this one?

We’re all different, and we have different eating patterns, or we don’t have a lot of money, so we eat a lot of starchy food (carbs…very bad carbs), or we just never learned that much about nutrition.

Tell you what! Let’s try to eat all the foods we need to eat to get all the natural nutrition we need. What’s that? You tried that, and gained weight because it required you to eat so many calories?

What if you are trying to lose weight? Maybe you are eating a healthy diet, but you are restricting or avoiding certain foods. Maybe you are also avoiding some of the vitamins and minerals you need.

How about the food itself? Has that radish or apple been processed or stored so long that it may have lost some of it’s nutritional value?

That smoking and drinking thing: Did you know that smoking and drinking actually interfere with your body’s ability to process or effectively use some essential vitamins?

It seems as if it’s a losing battle. Actually, there are a lot of things that someone can do to make sure they get all the vitamins and minerals they need. Knowing something about nutrition is good, planning meals or selecting carefully from the menu based on nutrition is good, and so is getting the proper amount of exercise and rest. But, it seems plain to me that making sure you are getting the appropriate amounts of the various vitamins and minerals can be difficult the way we live our lives today.

Recommendation? Take a daily multivitamin supplement…just to be safe. A bottle of vitamins doesn’t cost much, but it can potentially head off major and minor health problems in you and your family.

Astragalus Root – Can It Help You Feel Better?

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 1:19 am

Astragalus root has been used since ancient times in Chinese medicine. It is related to the pea family and is actually a root. Only in recent times has it been introduced to the west and we are now finding the benefits of this herbal plant. It is grown in Northern and Northeast China. It is harvested in the Spring and then dried for 4-7 years. It is now grown in the USA.

Scientific research has shown that this root has the ability to strengthen and improve the body’s immune system. It does this by stimulating the body to make more interferon. This substance helps the body destroy viruses and other unwanted microbes. Astragalus root is often recommended for boosting the immune system, in those who get sick easily or already have a serious illness.

Astragalus root also claims to boost energy levels and vitality. Blood circulation is improved. There are no known side effects, but consultation with your doctor is advised before taking as a supplement.
Astragalus root is very active in improving cell communication. Its properties include Polysaccharides and Glyconutrients, which are known to improve the immune system and are also anti-inflammatory. It also helps the body get rid of water retention.

It is taken as a dried powder and often with other Chinese medicines. To prepare as a tea: You will need to put 1 teaspoonful of the root powder in 1 cup of water, then simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drink 3 times a day. When taking a tincture of the root powder you will need to take 2-4 ml three times a day.
You should not use Astragalus root prior to or after surgery, because the risk of bleeding can be increased. Astragalus root can have an adverse effect when used with blood thinning drugs like warfarin.

Astragalus root is a good supplement for your health but is a strong medicine. This should not be taken randomly and you should always consult your doctor before taking. Research in the west is fairly new and we have only just begun to find out about this amazing herbal medicine. As scientists do more research we will hear and get to know more about this new and exciting alternative to modern day medicines.

What Does It Mean to be “Green?”

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 8:28 pm

Well, it’s kind of like being a vegetarian. There is a wide spectrum. On one end, you have the vegans who don’t use any animal products. On the other end, there are some people who consider themselves vegetarian who still eat chicken and fish and use dairy products.

Some green people have opted totally off the grid. They only use sustainable resources in all aspects of their lives. The Dancing Rabbit EcoVillage is an example of this form of “green living.”

There are some “green people” who are concerned about leaving a smaller footprint on the planet. They accept the idea that our civilizations do damage to the planet. They accept the idea that some of the damage may be permanent. Their idea is to control the depth and breadth of the damage by incremental personal behavior and society change. An example of their position can be found in their discussion of the replacement of gasoline in cars with fuel cells.

[Side Note:] One of politician’s favorite babies to kiss, fuel cell technology, is a great idea. When was the last time you went whizzing by a hydrogen station in your town? It’s not going to happen anytime soon. Most of the folks who talk about it in speeches don’t mean it. They’re just not serious. Have you seen the politicians when they are explaining why a football, baseball or basketball team needs to have a new arena, even when they aren’t filling the seats that they already have available? Before they even have the fancy ground breaking ceremony, they have sold all the luxury boxes and are half way through season ticket lotteries. Cities offer outrageous tax incentives to the teams and levy ridiculous taxes on their citizens. That is what a serious idea looks like in this country. The only place you are likely to see a functional car that runs on fuel cells is an auto show.

[Back to my Point:] At the very opposite end of the “green people” spectrum, there are the incidentally “green.” These are people who happily pay their fossil fuel bills and are only conversationally concerned with their “foot print.” So, how is it that they can be labeled as “green” at all? Well, these people accidentally pick up “green” behaviors because they care about their own existence and quality of life.

Many in this last group have noticed that they have suddenly developed allergies to things they eat. Some of them have noticed a sickly feeling when they wear certain clothes and use certain products. And, some of them have bodies that are waging spectacular all-out revolts in the form of diseases and syndromes.

In short, (I know it’s a little late for that) all technology that makes our lives less expensive and more convenient does not make our lives better. Join the “green people” and find your place on the spectrum. You’ll feel good and you’ll be better.

Take Your Vitamins – But Take Them Sensibly

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 4:38 am

When it comes to vitamins, the more you take the better off you are, right? Actually, that’s not true and you can be wasting your time (and money) or even doing yourself harm by overloading on vitamins. To get the ultimate advantage from vitamins, be smart about what you’re taking.

The first thing to remember about vitamins is that pills or supplements shouldn’t be your only source of vitamins. Nothing – not even a daily vitamin regimen – is a substitute for eating right. Some people tend to eat less healthy because of their lifestyles. They’re just too busy to stop for a real meal. Dieting is a common problem because those on a strict diet may not be getting nearly all the vitamins the body needs to stay healthy.

If those situations sound familiar, there are some things you can do.

Don’t do crash diets or diets that require you to only eat a specific food. The grapefruit diet was popular a few years ago, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it’s not a good idea from a health standpoint.

Talk to your doctor or to a dietician. Make a healthy plan and stick with it. Supplement your diet with regular exercise and be sure that you’re eating the foods that will keep you healthy long enough to enjoy that slim new body you’re working on.

If you think you’re just too busy to eat healthy, think again. There are dozens of shortcuts toward healthy foods and healthy meals that will get you the daily recommended dose of most vitamins. Instead of eating chips or a candy bar for a snack, eat an apple, a banana, a handful of grapes, cherries or strawberries. These are completely portable, just like a candy bar. Many convenience stores are recognizing that customers want these healthier snacks and they’re offering them at the counter.

Instead of stopping at a convenience store or fast food restaurant, allow yourself five extra minutes and make a quick stop at a grocer for your snack. Choose veggies – cooked are often an option if the grocery has a deli.

Make yourself a sandwich. Think sandwiches aren’t healthy? Think again. If you choose wisely, you’re getting meat, veggies (think bigger than just lettuce and tomato) and bread – and all the vitamins you’d get from most sit-down meals.

The next time you think that just popping a pill is the best way to get the vitamins your body needs, think again. It might be easier than taking time for a sandwich, but it’s certainly not healthier. Vitamin pills and supplements should do just that – supplement your daily food intake.
