Orange and HMV Start a Download Store for Mobile Games

Orange has entered into a partnership with HMV, a high street music retailer, in order to establish an online games store that is slated for a launch, in the near future.

The concept of the store, as claimed by Orange, is a novel one amidst UK mobile operators, and it is all set to offer approximately 400 games downloads mainly for Java-enabled handsets. More games would be added each week. The store, named HMV Mobile Games is being offered by Orange, though games would also be made available for users who avail the services of other mobile internet networks as well.

Gamers have the choice of downloading mobile games for £1, whereas the more popular and current titles could cost more, up to £5. There is a choice of some recent games from some other platforms, which are available at a higher cost. These include games gaming connoisseurs would have heard of, such as Fifa Manager 10 and Call of Duty MW2. Comparatively inexpensive options among the games include the classics as Tetris and Pac Man. Other options will include reviews, previews and demos, other than downloads. All these games have been tweaked so that they can function on handsets.

The store is to be launched in the near future. You can download the store application to your handsets by texting “hmv” in the text message field and sending it to 87010. The additional price of downloads would be added to the bills of the Orange users, whereas users of other mobile network services can pay by means of a pay-now system of billing.
