Be Happy! Home is the Happiest Place to Live In

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 11:40 pm

“The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have
passed at home in the bosom of my family.”Thomas Jefferson.

The world may be a dreary, dreadful, and dangerous place to
venture into. There may be cut-throat competition in which
survival of the mean, cunning, and bully only is possible. It may
not be a place for gentle, honest, and kind person like you. It
is full of murderers, criminals, rapists, and swindlers. They are
ready to snatch away the loaf of bread from your hand. You need a
sanctuary from them. You need a place where there is love and
care, understanding and compassion, give and take. You need
somebody who could guide and protect you. You need somebody who
could be equal partner in your joys and sorrows. You need
somebody upon whom you could shower your love and care. You need
a home and a family.

Parents sacrifice a lot and endure great hardships in up-bringing
their children. They are selfless in their love and can even lay
their lives for the protection of their children. A spouse is a
life time partner in your days of sunshine and rain. Brothers and
sisters are your friends and supporters. Your children are your
life time fans who love you unconditionally. The love, care, and
support of family is a great happiness. Blessed is the person who
has got a family. And who amongst us has not got one? But we take
family for granted. We don’t recognize it as a great source of
happiness. The more happiness you give to your family the more
you extract out of it.

You are born into a family and grow up within a family. A family
not only provides comfort, enjoyment, and security, but it also
gives emotional and spiritual bliss. In fact, one may find so
much happiness within family that he or she may not need to
search it outside it. The love and care of mother and father,
brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, wife or husband sustain
us. Though love is one and the same yet the love of each is so
different too. A family may extend beyond these immediate
relations and may include grand parents, grand children, in-laws,
uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

Can all the money of the world buy the love and affection of
one’s parents? Can one be happy without them? How much enjoyment
and happiness they add to our life? Similar is the case with
brothers and sisters. At a later stage of life husband or wife
becomes practically the sole arbiter of our happiness. Man or
woman’s happiness nearly entirely depends on his or her spouse.
At a still later stage sons and daughters become a great source
of happiness. Bertrand Russell said, ‘I have found the happiness
of parenthood greater than any other that I have experienced.’
Family relations give happiness, but at the same time to be a
relation also gives happiness. It is happiness unlimited to be a
son, a brother, a sister, a father, a mother, a husband, and a
wife.

When you kiss your child, don’t you get a kiss in return?

When you hug your sister, don’t you get a hug in return?

When you love your spouse, don’t you get love in return?

Be Happy! You have your family which loves you!

BE HAPPY!

Migraines and Hormones – A Natural Approach

Filed under: Medical Resources @ 4:46 am

It’s estimated that 40 million Americans suffer from chronic headaches. Headaches are one of the leading causes of missed work or school. So why is it that so many of us suffer from such annoying and often debilitating pains in the head? Honestly, there are several reasons.

Some of the most common triggers of migraines are stress, food allergies, caffeine withdrawal, medications, lack of sleep, extreme weather conditions, blood sugar fluctuations, and hormone imbalances.

Many migraine suffers find little or no relief in either over-the-counter or prescription medications. And, even for those that do, rebound headaches are often a resulting side effect.

When suffering from chronic headaches, it is important to learn your triggers. Keep a diary that tells the date, time, weather conditions, foods eaten in the last 24 hours, emotional stressors, amount of sleep, drugs taken or, if you are a female, where you are in your menstrual cycle. Determining your triggers can take you a long way towards reducing the frequency and intensity of migraines.

Once you have eliminated many of the triggers (yes, through hard work and dedication), you may find your headaches arrive pre or post menstrual. You have just discovered that your migraines are triggered by hormones. Oh yes, the same lovely chemical that gives us mood swings, cramps, bloating, breast tenderness and those horrible chocolate cravings will also cause your migraine headaches.

If you fall into this category, there is hope beyond medication. It’s important to understand that this will require a commitment on your part. Balancing hormones can be a tedious and difficult prospect but the rewards are well worth the effort.

Estrogen dominance is the most frequent cause of hormone imbalances.

Here are a few keys to remember about estrogen dominance.

  • Fat stores estrogen. The more weight you gain, the more estrogen you will retain.
  • Stress produces cortisol which boosts estrogen levels.
  • A toxic liver, from excess alcohol or pollution, will not filter estrogen out of our bodies.
  • Many of the foods we eat are fed estrogens to make them grow and produce more food. Eating meat and diary products will increase your estrogen levels.
  • Plastic containers, pesticides and cleaning chemicals produce xeno-estrogens, chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body.
  • Skipping periods, whether by choice through the use of birth control pills or by nature, will prevent the release of progesterone which keeps estrogen levels in balance.
  • It’s no wonder girls as young as 7 and 8 are now starting their menstrual cycles.

So what are the answers? You can beat hormone caused migraine headaches through good nutrition and supplementation as well as regular exercise. Here are some suggestions.

  • Start shopping for hormone free meats. These can be found in health food stores or ordered online.
  • Use non-toxic household cleaners and non-toxic pesticides whenever possible.
  • Make sure you are getting at least 30 grams of fiber every day. If you aren’t eating enough to get this amount, be sure to supplement with a quality fiber product. Fiber binds to estrogen helping to remove it from the body.
  • Vitamins A, C, B12 and E along with magnesium, selenium, calcium and anti-oxidants are essential to maintaining a healthy hormone balance.
  • Supplement with DHEA. This hormone precursor promotes the development of progesterone which will keep estrogen in check.
  • And, of course, there is progesterone cream. Be sure to select a high quality progesterone cream that offers no less than 500 mg of progesterone that is not synthetic.
  • Also consider adding in Milk Thistle. This herb has a wonderful track record for cleansing and supporting the liver.
  • If you are unsure of what products to use or which steps to take, be sure you work with someone that is familiar with natural alternatives. They should be able to guide you in your decision making process.

By taking these steps, you should be on your way to improved health with a wonderful side effect, no more MIGRAINES!

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 – Preliminary Highlights

Filed under: Software Infos @ 6:57 am

Microsoft is currently on the way to release Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. Current version is MS CRM 1.2. Why Microsoft Business Solutions skipped one version (2.0 or the like)? One of the Microsoft answers was – version 1.2 had too many new features (as developers we may guess – MS CRM SDK redesign – some functionality was deprecated – joke – of course MS CRM 1.2 is very impressive progress comparing to the pioneer – 1.0), so 1.2 was playing the role of skipped 2.0. This article is targeted to IT departments who do self-implementation and self-customization and we’ll try to give you the info on new release, which is expected in December, 2005.

    • Migration Tool. There will be migration path from MS CRM 1.2 to 3.0. According to Microsoft it should be relatively straightforward upgrade

    • Pre-Callouts. N MS CRM 1.2 as you probably know – you can use post call-outs to place your custom logic. In 3.0 you can deploy he possibility to call your custom code before the commitment and so if needed roll-back the change

    • Duplicates merge. Well – you probably noticed the fact that in 1.2 you can’t clean up duplicate records with one or another automation tool. In 3.0 – duplicates merge is finally realized and you can merge activities and decide which phone number, or address to pick for the consolidated record.

    • Marketing Module. Now you should be able to do marketing campaigns and place criteria to pick the targeted audience.

    • Scheduling. You will see more features, available in MS Outlook to facilitate your work. Now you should be able to schedule “field service” type of appointments with your customers

    • MS Outlook-like interface. Microsoft Outlook users worldwide count is probably something astonishing and it is logical marketing idea to capitalize on this. If you make your products to use intuitive (or trained in your alma mater university) Microsoft Office Outlook interface – clients may expect their users to speed up with the learning curve

    • Installation, Administration, Support. These should be a way more simple. It is hard to believe, because MS CRM uses MS Exchange, Active Directory, etc. – but this is what it is.

    • Technical Highlights. One of the most astonishing should be the possibility to integrate one-to-many custom table relationship, including MS Outlook client synchronization. Imagine – you have cargo tracking system and you use MS CRM order as shipment object. Then you can have multiple shipment one-to-many relationships, such as shipment statuses, shipment items, etc.

    • MS CRM Suite. With 3.0 you do not have to purchase MS CRM Sales or Professional to get, say service module. Now you have the option to add modules in the future. However if you purchase MS CRM Professional before December 2005 – you will get full set of MS Dynamics CRM 3.0 modules

    7 Applications Worth Checking Out

Filed under: Software Infos @ 1:13 pm

The following is a list of 7 software applications or web services to keep your computer safe and make your computing experience better.

First up is adaware. Go to download.com and search for adaware. It is a free (for personal use) spy ware removal tool. Run it once a week to remove spy ware and small viruses that maybe slowing your connection or trying to steal your identity.

Second is spy bot. It is also a spy ware removal tool and can also be found by searching download.com. The reason you need this is that is will pick up what adaware misses. Between the two applications you will stop/find most spy ware.

Third is zone alarm. You can find it at www.zonelabs.com. Zone alarm is a free firewall program. It will prevent unwanted invaders from getting into your computer. It can sometimes be very aggressive so you may need to go into the settings and allow any programs you notice are being blocked after you install.

Fourth is the google pack. This is a suite of free programs put together by Google. It includes a photo organizer, tool bars, and most importantly it includes a version of Nortan Antivirus with a 6 month subscription. This will give you a good start with having an anti-virus program installed. There are also several other programs that are optional. You can get the google pack by clicking on the link on my homepage.

Fifth is the web browser Firefox. This is an alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. It has many features that enhance your web browsing experience including tabbed browsing, not to mention it is more secure than IE. You can get Firefox by clicking on the link on the right hand side of my homepage.

Sixth is Windows XP. Windows XP comes with most new computers these days. If you are still using Windows 98 or Windows ME its time to upgrade. These older system are no longer supported and its hard to get software that is compatible.

Last but not least is a Google account. Email has the best web based email program out there. A Google account not gets you an online spreadsheet program and an online calendar. All of these features can be shared with your friends and there is a chat program that works right inside your inbox.

Using these applications will make your computing safe, fun, and easy.

Do you want to purchase a new flat screen and postulate 10000 dollar

A moneylender in East Providence Rhode Island or so can have a total different actual rate for a 5000 dollar money loan then a merchant bank in Burnsville Minnesota and that makes a big clear gap in your yearly pay offs. Nowadays you can check over rates of interest quickly online and protrude if there are other conditions you should be aware of. 17.9 percent interest rate may seem so sightly but will that be invariant after you’re going to pay back your deferred payment. It makes no difference if you live in Midland Texas or in Naperville Illinois a dependable online check up will salve you often a lot trouble.

Lots of of the banks wil show you a rate of interest that is looking proficient but feels poorly or so after a while. Be impertinent today to check up if you have a super bargain or if you don’t with the bank that offers you a credit loan. That’s the reason why now you need to investigate and experience if you can have a money loan at a safe percent loan rate. Analyze to see if the bank who wants to give you a loan is safe.

Astragalus Root – Can It Help You Feel Better?

Filed under: Better Nutrition @ 1:19 am

Astragalus root has been used since ancient times in Chinese medicine. It is related to the pea family and is actually a root. Only in recent times has it been introduced to the west and we are now finding the benefits of this herbal plant. It is grown in Northern and Northeast China. It is harvested in the Spring and then dried for 4-7 years. It is now grown in the USA.

Scientific research has shown that this root has the ability to strengthen and improve the body’s immune system. It does this by stimulating the body to make more interferon. This substance helps the body destroy viruses and other unwanted microbes. Astragalus root is often recommended for boosting the immune system, in those who get sick easily or already have a serious illness.

Astragalus root also claims to boost energy levels and vitality. Blood circulation is improved. There are no known side effects, but consultation with your doctor is advised before taking as a supplement.
Astragalus root is very active in improving cell communication. Its properties include Polysaccharides and Glyconutrients, which are known to improve the immune system and are also anti-inflammatory. It also helps the body get rid of water retention.

It is taken as a dried powder and often with other Chinese medicines. To prepare as a tea: You will need to put 1 teaspoonful of the root powder in 1 cup of water, then simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drink 3 times a day. When taking a tincture of the root powder you will need to take 2-4 ml three times a day.
You should not use Astragalus root prior to or after surgery, because the risk of bleeding can be increased. Astragalus root can have an adverse effect when used with blood thinning drugs like warfarin.

Astragalus root is a good supplement for your health but is a strong medicine. This should not be taken randomly and you should always consult your doctor before taking. Research in the west is fairly new and we have only just begun to find out about this amazing herbal medicine. As scientists do more research we will hear and get to know more about this new and exciting alternative to modern day medicines.

    Leadership in a Fearful World

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 6:20 am

    Copyright 2005 So-lu’shunz Management Services

We are living in a fearful world. It is a world haunted by the menace of terrorism, threatened by insidious warfare. It is a world plagued by tsunamis, monster hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, severe drought, famine and raging wildfires. But these often often take a back seat to fear right in our own neighborhood streets. What was once a place of commerce, transportation and community has become a war zone right outside our front doors. Children are often not safe in their classrooms, and sadly not even in their own homes.

Haunted by insecurity and upheaval, shadowed by dread, the world hungers for great leadership, for guidance and direction from those with cool heads and clear visions. If you are in a position of leadership, and very few of us are not, don’t wait for a great leader to emerge. Great leaders are not born – they become. A great leader is one whose heart is transformed, often during times of great crisis. You can be the great leader to arise in your family, community or business setting.

Webster defines crisis as disordered function, a radical change of status, an unstable or crucial time or state of affairs in which a decisive change is impending; especially one with the distinct possibility of a highly undesirable outcome.

With that definition in mind, handling crisis is no longer an option for any leader. Leaders must be prepared at all times to handle crisis and its outcomes at home, among friends and in the workplace. If that’s a daunting possibility, be encouraged. You are far better prepared to be the instrument of peace in a critical situation that you realize. Keep these steps in mind.

    1. Deal with yourself first. You’re no good to anyone if you’re out of control. Deal with your own emotions, your immediate needs. As the airlines have been telling us for years, put the oxygen mask on yourself first, and then you can be available to those in need.

    2. Tell the truth about the situation. Use your good judgment to share what information is pertinent. It’s not necessary to share all the gory details simply because they exist. The need to share sensational data will separate the leader from the limelight seeker.

    3. Alleviate stress, as much as possible. Provide a controlled atmosphere in which people can talk through their fears, where they can share what they have experienced and how they are feeling about it.

    4. Authenticate the experience. Don’t try to talk people out of their emotions; don’t comment and by all means, don’t judge. Hear them out; acknowledge them and then be prepared to help them move forward.

    5. Provide an opportunity to move forward to normal operation. Though true normalcy may not be possible for some time, realize what will be necessary to return to a degree of normal functioning and facilitate it.

    6. Recognize and deal with the acute reaction. Be prepared to employ professionals to assess those whose reactions seem to be severe, situations in which the individuals may be a potential danger to themselves or to others.

    7. Provide resources 24/7. From toiletries for those displaced by a tornado to a forum for sharing memories about a deceased comrade, the great leader will see through the eyes of need and provide whatever will help the victimized begin to feel empowered once more.

    8. Don’t ever promise what you can’t deliver. But don’t hesitate to promise what you know you can. In times of crisis, people will hang onto whatever is offered. As a leader, you are bound to make your offers concrete and be prepared to stand behind them, at all costs.

    9. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Keep all lines of communication open and flowing. Repeat each communiqué over and over. Ears in crisis may not hear what’s being said until the fourth or fifth telling. And remember that it goes two ways. Listening is equally as important as imparting information. Be willing to hear the same story until it no longer needs to be told.

Comfort comes in all shapes and sizes. Great leaders often look a lot like grandmothers with comfy laps or paramedics who dispense teddy bears with ambulance rides, or neighbors who make their homes available at a moment’s notice.

Great leaders are those who establish and insure order. They guide and teach and protect. They provide tools; they counsel, arbitrate and shield. They comfort and nurture and encourage. And when the time is right they will even prod. Whatever the title they bear, if they are accomplishing these things, they have transformed hearts and they have become leaders. The need is great and they are very precious to us in these times. Be among them. Remember it’s not what you do; it’s what you become!

Note: For more information or to arrange for formal training in crisis response procedures, contact the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), the American Red Cross or your local disaster response coordinator.

    Staying ‘Now’ Is Miraculous

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 3:12 am

When you are smack dab in the middle of a problem, there doesn’t seem to be any way out. You feel overcome with tension, anxiety and worry. The speeding non-stop thoughts racing through your head feel sickening. Never relinquishing control for an instant, that insidious mind ferociously threatens any chance of sanity you long for. Its crushing mental blows are disheartening, making you feel isolated and alone. Nothing but fear courses through your veins as you frantically seek freedom the chaos.

Stop a minute before you accept total defeat and ask yourself this question. Have you ever noticed that every time this happens you never pause long enough to realize that your mind is any place but NOW, in the present moment? Like a horse at the starting gate, you quickly bolt to the “what if” department firmly convinced you can predict the future. There’s a lot of disjointed, useless worrying going on instead of being current with the instant. Isn’t there? Rather than taking a second to calm down when you feel thrown, you immediately seek relief by lamenting over past predicaments or jumping ahead to ferret out what’s might happen. Your vivid imagination is quickly used as a crutch to avoid staying right now.

Uncomfortably hectic feelings of the unknown make it unbearable for you to want to stay focused on NOW (where unlimited options occur if you let them). You’d much rather feed the need to figure things out. You project unlimited scenarios then live in mortal fear of your own creations. Totally unaware and oblivious to the fact that it’s the emotion surrounding what’s happening showing for you to look at. You’re being challenged to move away from what you know from past patterning. Challenged to move out of the habitual and into the spontaneous.

The whole process of change feels horrible because it’s automatic to flip to what you’re used to. You’ve been taught that this little scheming mind provides healthy, methodical plans designed to protect you from repeated mistakes. “Learn from experience,” you’re told. “Plan ahead.” “Don’t leave the future to chance.” None of which support real happiness. All of which are in direct opposition to living in the NOW. NOW means NOW. It’s the smartest move you can make if you want truly want the most helpful action.

The mind is not your friend. It’s composed of intellect, which is not necessarily intelligence. That’s the problem. An analytical, emotion-filled referral service which you call a mind (based solely on past/future calculations), guarantees you’ll never have any peace. Made up of ignorance piled on top of ignorance, it tricks you into believing it’s knowledgeable. Playing this game is delightful to it. The more it has you going, the more fearful you become. Like a tennis ball in a heated match it perpetually whips you back and forth, keeping the focus far away from the here and NOW.

There’s no doubt a mind is good for remembering where you live, getting to the grocery store, tasks to be performed at work, names and places. Other than that it’s nothing but a twenty-four hour irritation that never shuts up. Next time you contemplate trusting that mind take this saying into consideration first, “The human mind has an infinite capacity to conceive on a finite basis.” That’s why you keep getting into trouble when you attempt to think your way through things. It’s a dead-end street. A crowded head leaves no room for answers.

In retrospect, don’t all really helpful solutions come out of nowhere? No matter what the size, aren’t real answers spontaneous, profound and unexpected? You followed your gut or were led to take action for one reason or another. Mentally reliving your past and then projecting your known fears into the future leaves absolutely no space for a fresh, unscarred, unblemished present does it? You must let go of your death grip on the known. It’s miraculous when you do. The definition of a miracle is a change of mind.

Staying right now, clinging to the absolute moment is true protection. It’s where all miracles come from. It’s your only protection. There is no past or future, i.e. no thinking in NOW. There is no fear either. You can’t project when you stay NOW. Therefore, problems evaporate. It appears to melt down that which isn’t. Like darkness when light comes in a room, it disappears.

Why? You’re not one second into the future or one second into the past. Prior conditioning isn’t tagging along to interfere with potentiality. Thinking and NOW cannot coexist, therefore, there is never a crisis in NOW. If your past and your future are wiped out, what is there to be afraid of?

Whether you realize it or not, NOW is indestructible and invisible. That’s why it’s a safe place to rest. It’s vastness is infinite, unlimited. When trouble and whatnot flits across your horizon, do you immediately go to NOW and stay there? Or, do you start with all of your troubles and keep running them through your head over and over again?

Do you think to ask yourself if NOW is troubled, or in trouble? If NOW is annoyed? Then continue on by asking yourself if there is more than the one alone, more than this NOW moment? When you start with NOW and stay there, your little bitty tape-playing mind won’t find a listener. It won’t find a place to penetrate and infiltrate. Don’t think it’s silly because it isn’t. The practice of being NOW is the most effective action you can take.

Thinking creates problems. It’s the only hell there is. You take delivery of the goods. You buy the farm and then desperately try to dig your way out of it. You do it to yourself. You’re screaming bloody murder when all along it’s you against yourself. What other mind is doing it to you? Thus the saying, “When you are happy you aren’t thinking and when you are thinking you aren’t happy… so don’t think!”

There’s no doubt that problems seem to be real and overpowering when you’re down in there with them. That’s why you have to get some distance and refrain from any judgment for a while. Worry pushes away answers. You must raise yourself higher than the level of the problem to solve it and that is exactly what staying NOW does. While it doesn’t make rational sense, when you let go and rest in NOW what needs to be done will be done. The trick is remembering to do it.

It may be hard to believe, but everything actually works much better when you stop all your anxious thinking. Try it. The world worked just fine before you came along and it will continue to do so after you leave. Desires, expectations and needs tend to trip you up because they become more important than living life itself. Instead of being nice additions, these external things become demands for happiness.

A quote from the book Visthistha’s Yoga says, “The very best intelligent means by which the mind can be subdued is complete freedom from desire, hope or expectation, in regard to all objects at all times.” Which means lighten your burden through non-attachment. Let go and live. Live from NOW to NOW, not knowing what’s next. It’s very easy and very difficult at the same time. Yet, anyone who is truly earnest in his/her effort will achieve this.

Aren’t you always surprised if you don’t expect anything? You are happier too. “My burden is light,” comes from the Gospel According to Thomas. When you don’t have hope, desire or expectation can you possibly feel weighted down? Your mind ends up leading you instead of you leading it, like a dog walking its master rather than the other way around. You start fidgeting and projecting, and then your mind just goes nuts. You worry yourself to death, needlessly and miss the beauty of NOW. You’re too busy analyzing everything to death because you want to be right. You miss every thing that’s precious and valuable.

When was the last time you actually appreciated the blueness of the sky, the colors of a rainbow or the gentleness of a butterfly? How long has it been since you really looked at the trees, noticed the beauty of colorful flowers or smelled freshly cut grass? You can’t grab NOW. By the time you try to grab this NOW, there is another NOW. Certainly, you can enjoy the fragrance of each special moment by being a present part of its splendor.

Don’t be like Mrs. Lott (from the Bible) who turned to look back and became a pillar of salt. Looking back into the past is deadness. Looking forward into the future is lifeless. If you want peace, drop thinking and hand over your mind to NOW. Just put one foot in front of the other and stay absolutely, positively right NOW. NOW and God are synonymous terms. How risky could it be? It may seem impractical, but nothing could be further from the truth.

The Center has been providing dynamic personal and spiritual growth opportunities for 15 years. Pat counsels, conducts classes and publishes a monthly newsletter. Pilates: A Relaxing Way To Exercise

Filed under: University Of Templates @ 6:44 pm

It is perhaps the Hollywood glitz and glamour that has everyone into the dieting and exercising fad. One of the most popular exercise programs is Pilates, which is especially designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body through a series of routines. It combines both body movements and breathing patterns.

Pilates is known to increase lung capacity and circulation through exercises that focus on breathing. It also promotes strength and flexibility in the abdomen and the back muscles as well as improving on the coordination of the mind and the muscles. And because the program centers and emphasizes the importance of balance and posture, general health improves along with bone density.

It is perhaps these numerous benefits and the fact that Pilates can be tailor-made and incorporated in routines that make each class costly. Prices for classes range from $10 to $20 for group classes and about $50 to $100 or even more for individual lessons with trained instructors.

    How did this start?

Joseph Pilates is a performer and a boxer in England. His fascination for exercise and health issues stem from his being a sickly child. Determined to strengthen his body, he studied, practiced and developed exercises that will improve his health. True enough, he grew to be really strong, choosing professions that would utilize body strength and endurance.

When he was detained with German nationals in Lancaster, he taught fellow camp members the concepts and exercises he developed through years and years of self-study and training in yoga and Zen, not to mention all the other Greek and Roman physical regimens.

It was at this time when he began to devise a system of original “Contrology” exercises now known as “matwork,” which refers to exercise routines done on the floor. When he was taken to another camp where he served as caretaker, he devised equipment that would help rehabilitate his “patients. The equipment that he made was not much different from what is being used today by people who subscribe to the Pilates program. Spring tension straps are also used in routines to hold the feet and to support the shoulders, neck and head in routines.

Because of its focus on balance and flexibility, Pilates holds much appeal for dancers and performers. Some celebrities, actresses and models, in fact, are enamored by the graceful movements that are incorporated in each routine. Not only does Pilates help improve health and well-being, it also develops proper posture and blood circulation, preventing the occurrence of osteoporosis.

What is more, Pilates does not involve a lot of muscle stress because the routines are gentle and slow similar to dance. There is no running and jumping around. Practitioners do not even need to lift heavy things. This is the reason why doctors often recommend Pilates to patients who have back and spine injuries as well as those afflicted with Arthritis and other muscle ailments. The routines are also good for people who are undergoing rehabilitation and physical therapy.

Pilates is also good for people who are a bit older and those who are overweight. It is in essence a relaxing exercise program, which not only helps in the reduction of weight and improvement of health but also in de-stressing and relaxing the body, mind and the spirit.

Treadmills – Ideal For Home Exercise

Filed under: University Of Templates @ 11:54 am

Treadmills are ideal for exercising from home. They can be used on there own or if you are starting a home gym you can use them as an addition to other equipment such as the exercise bike, weight etc. The treadmill is ideal for both beginners and the more advanced as you have the options of walking or jogging at different speeds and inclines. All the major manufacturers such as Weslo, Reebok, Nordic Track etc have some excellent treadmills available. Costing will vary considerably depending on what you require. Some of the treadmills have built in heart monitors with mountainous terrain programs and races. If you are tight on a budget you can get a more basic model that will have a more moderate function level.

    Cross training and treadmills:

We are all encouraged to do aerobic exercise that has excellent cardio benefits and overall health. The treadmill can be used combined with the dual way exercise bikes for cross training. The treadmill is geared more towards an overall aerobic exercise but is limited in upper body exercise. Combining the treadmill exercise with an upper body exercise such as using a dual function exercise bike or some free weights will give your body a complete workout.

Is a treadmill good for rehabilitation?

Firstly ask your doctor before ever using any fitness equipment if it is new to you or especially if you intend using the equipment for rehabilitation purposes. If you are using the treadmill for rehab after a sports injury such as knee ligament or ankle etc (including broken bones) you will need a treadmill with excellent cushioning on the under carriage. Such injuries require delicate training with little or no impact. If you are recovering from a health problem such as heart the treadmill is the ideal equipment that allows you set your own pace and build slowly (once again seek medical advice first).

    Exercise is boring:

Agreed, exercise can be boring if you let it. If you are exercising at home you have excuses of being bored. Use the treadmill for 30 minutes per day in front of the TV and the time will fly, you might end up even doing more than you realise. You can add in more relaxed music to pass the time if you wish. Home exercise is only boring if that’s the excuse you want to use to get out of doing it.

    Cardiovascular Exercise is a necessity:

The treadmill is the ideal exercise equipment to give you a cardiovascular workout. Your heart needs exercise to function properly and it is recommended that you do at least 25 to 30 minutes per day exercising. Combined with a good balanced diet the treadmill will go a long way in helping you achieve a healthy lifestyle.

What are the main benefits of using the Treadmill?
The treadmill has many advantages but none more important than improving your quality of life. By this we mean:

    Increased general fitness

    Improved self confidence

    Better sleeping

    More energetic

    Improved libido

    More toned figure

In general treadmills are ideal for the home. There are even foldable treadmills if you are a little tight for space. There is a treadmill to suit all budgets but obviously the more you spend the more functionality such as computer aided programs you get. Check out the manufacturers warranty, they can vary and in some cases you need to package the treadmill up and send it back to the shop for repair, these should not be purchased. You need a treadmill that has a call out warranty. Treadmills will at some stage require some maintenance, the runner may have to be replaced after a certain amount of time so check out the prices for spares before you buy.

    Internet Shopping for treadmills:

Shopping on the Internet is the ideal way to view the different models and ranges and quite often you will save a lot of money if you purchase on the internet. If you do decide to purchase online check out the dimensions, all might look well on screen but when delivered could be bigger than you first expected. Shipping is generally cheap but do check as I have seen some companies charge more than they really should.
